7 Promises To The Tempted

Temptations will come your way whether you like it or not.  God did not promise us trouble-free life, but He promised never to leave or forsake us.  He promised to always show a way of escape.  I have my own fair share of temptations and still come across temptations, but one of my favorite scriptures that keeps me moving is 1 Corinthians 10:13 which states “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

You realized from the above that firstly, the temptation is common to man – a temptation which one is able to bear.  Secondly, the temptation won’t be more than you can stand.  It won’t be beyond your God-enabled ability and Thirdly, God will provide a way of escape.

So what are these 7 promises?

Power to Tread on Evil Forces
Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.  Luke 10:19.  This promise talks about preservation and protection.  He’ll preserve you from danger, from the power of Satan and from wicked and crafty men and from mankind in general because He has divine power.

Provision of a Way of Escape
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.  1 Corinthians 10:13.  I believe one thing – God does not tempt us, but allows or permits temptation to come our way.  “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone” – James 1:13 (NIV).  He may allow temptations for his glory to be revealed.   This is a positive promise to all Christians who are in temptations.  He knows what you can endure and His grace will sustain you.  As He allows the temptation to befall you He also makes a way of deliverance.

Help in the Trying Hour
Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.  Hebrews 2:18.  Christ is a perfect example of one who went through sufferings and temptations.  He was tempted by Satan in every way yet did not sin.  Hebrews 4:15 indicates “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are yet he did not sin.” (NIV). Although the High Priest went through sufferings, temptations, and sorrows and yet overcame them all he is able to help them that are tempted.

The Crushing of Satan
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The blessings from our Lord Jesus Christ be upon you.  Romans 16:20.  This promise assured the believer that you can endure Satan’s rage, but surely he is doomed.  You’ll crush him under your feet.  Watch out for false doctrines and avoid them.  You are encouraged to continue resisting the manipulations of the enemy

Safety through Christ’s Intercession
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”  Luke 22:31-32.  Satan desires to have you.  He’ll try you and tempt you in so many ways; he’ll place trials and temptations your way to see if you’ll still remain in the faith. Even when you are on the verge of falling the prayers of Christ have made it possible for you not to completely fall away.

Final Victory
So give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  James 4:7.  Let go of any pride and be totally obedient to the Lord’s commands.  Do not fulfill the devil’s wishes – lust of the flesh, etc. but be in submission to God and the devil will flee from you

Enthronment with Christ
I will let everyone who conquers sit beside me on my throne, just as I took my place with my Father on his throne when I had conquered.  Revelation 3:21.  This is an assurance for all overcomers – He’ll let everyone who conquers to sit with Him in His throne.
