How To Become Spiritually Mature

Spiritual growth is important in the life of every Christian.  When we get ‘born again’ we are taken through various bible teachings to help us grow in the Lord. Bible states in 1 Peter 2:2 that “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”   We are to be hungry for the word of God if we really want to grow.  Therefore growth is very vital in our walk with God.

Infants desire milk to grow well and such must be a Christian’s desires after the word of God. A look at 5 ways.

By Putting away Childish Things
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things – 1 Corinthians 13:11(KJV)

By Partaking of the Deeper Truths of the Gospel
You will never be able to eat solid spiritual food and understand the deeper things of God’s Word until you become better Christians and learn right from wrong by practicing doing right – Hebrews 5:14 (TLB)

By Developing the Understanding
Dear brothers and sisters, don’t be childish in your understanding of these things. Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil, but be mature in understanding matters of this kind -1 Corinthians 14:20

By Overcoming Temptations
I have written to you who are God’s children because you know the Father.  I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.  I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one – 1 John 2:14 (NLT)

By Striving to attain the Stature of a Perfect Man in Christ
This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ – Ephesians 4:13 (NLT)
