15 Reasons To Praise God

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:8 KJV).

The book of Psalms is full of praise and it tells so much reasons why we should praise God.  Psalm 92:1 indicates “IT IS A GOOD THING to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:” In other words it is pleasant to praise God.

I praise God for who He is.  He is the source of my life, my everything, my all in all.  Without Him I can do nothing.  I praise Him for the future that I cannot even see.

Praise is an essential part of a Christian’s life.  But why should we praise Him?  Here are 15 reasons from Psalm 107.

He is Good (v 1).  O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

His mercy endures forever (v 1) O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

His redemption from the enemy (v 2).   Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

His gathering of the people (v 3).  And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.

His deliverance from distresses (v 6).  Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

His leading to a city (v 7).  And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

His goodness and wonderful works (v 8, 15, 21, 31).  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:8)

His Soul-satisfying powers (v 9).  For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Salvation from distresses (v 13, 28).  Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Deliverance from darkness and the shadow of death (v 14).  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

Liberation from bondage (v 14, 16).  “For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.” (Psalm 107:16)

Bodily healing (Psalm 107:20; Psalm 91:1-12; Psalm 103:3; Exodus 15:26; Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:17; John 10:10; James 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:24).  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Deliverance from destructions (v 20).  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Deliverance from storms (v 29-30).  He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.  Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Material prosperity (v 33-38).  He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.  He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.  And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation; And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.  He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
