How To Live A Christian Life As A Woman

Living a Christian life as a woman in today’s world can be challenging.  So many things demand our attention and time on a daily basis which at times deprive us of growing in the Lord.  It is God’s purpose that we’ll grow and not remain babies.  2 Peter 3:18 states “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”  Here are some few points to help us live a Christian life as women.

1.  Believe the gospel and walk in the light

Believe the entire word of God at all times, and walk in the light as you received it. God is light and He is the Word. “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 NLT )

2.  Walk by faith.

Walk by faith not by sight or by feelings, because the “the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him” (Hebrews 10:23-39; Galatians 5:16-26; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-13)

3.  Read the Bible daily

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105 NLT).  Daily search and meditate on the word of God.  His word is a lamp to direct us in all our doubts, difficulties and ways.  His word protects us from falling and going astray.  It makes us wise and causes us to be prosperous.  Simply put, we cannot live without His word.  Psalm 1:1-3 indicates “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.  But they delight in the law of the Lordmeditating on it day and night.  They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
Our Christian life is a warfare hence we need to constantly study the Bible (Ephesians 6:10-18)

4.  Pray daily

At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.   You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.  “I have spoken of these matters in figures of speech, but soon I will stop speaking figuratively and will tell you plainly all about the Father. Then you will ask in my name. I’m not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf, (John 16:23-26 NLT).  Talk to God daily as your heavenly father in the name of Jesus Christ.
He wants to carry your burdens – tell Him about your problems, fears, challenges, etc.  “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT).

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done for you (Philippians 4:5-6).

5.  Claim God’s promises

God’s promises never fail because they are yea – they shall all be fulfilled and that’s why we have to claim them by faith.  2 Corinthians 1:20 says “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory”.  God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. (2 Peter 1:1-4)

6.  Keep your mind stayed upon God

Fix and settle your thoughts on God and grow in Grace.  Thou wilt keep him in peace; in perfect peace, peace from within, outward peace, peace with God, peace of mind, peace at all times and in all events.  (Isaiah 26:3).  Trust Him at all times and in all circumstances and conditions for those who trust in him will never be disgraced (1 Peter 2:4-10).

7.  Recognize at all times your own weaknesses as well as God’s strength

“If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure”. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13)
Others who have similar temptations and burdens have fallen and we may also because we are not better than those who fall.  But God is faithful and will make our burdens according to our strength – He always provides a way of escape.  He is All-powerful and protects us in times of our weaknesses (1 Peter 1:5)

8.  Confess the Lord Jesus Christ frequently and daily

Always profess and acknowledge Him as your personal Savior.  Matthew 10:32-33 point out the Lord will acknowledge everyone who acknowledges him publicly and denies everyone who denies Him here on earth.  Be busy at soul-winning and as much as possible keep occupied in all phases of Christian work for He that winneth souls is wise (Proverbs 11:30).  Daniel 12:3 also reveals that “Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.

9.  Avoid temptations and shun evil companions

Have no fellowship with sinners and evil companions.  Sinners always enjoy the company of sin but we’ve been asked to be cautious not to follow the footsteps of sinners – not to do what they do, do not speak as they speak, do not agree to things they agree to, etc.  “My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!  They may say, “Come and join us.  Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!  Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death.  Think of the great things we’ll get! We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take.  Come, throw in your lot with us; we’ll all share the loot.”  My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths.  They rush to commit evil deeds.  They hurry to commit murder.” (Proverbs 1:10-16 NLT).  Resist sin & satan and they shall flee (James 4:7)

You are also told to stay alert and watch for your great enemy, the devil (1 Peter 55:8-9).  Make friends with God’s people, and go all out to be a blessing to them and others.  Don’t just pretend to love others.  Really love them.  God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So use your gift well for others to also benefit (Romans 12:1-21).  You are also admonished in Colossians 3:5-10 to put away your old nature which only leads to sinfulness and rather put on your new nature.

10.  Attend church regularly

We should not neglect our church meetings – meeting together and sharing God’s word, encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of the Lord’s coming back is drawing near (Hebrews 10:25).  Going to church regularly also connects us to God’s people and gets to know and make new friends.
Coperate with the pastor in all of his many labors as commanded in Matthew 28:19-20.

11.  Seek God constantly for the full anointing of the Holy Spirit, the fruit and gifts of the Spirit

We must seek God for the Holy Spirit, not only to help us pray well but as spiritual blessings. With the Holy Spirit, we are brought to know God and ourselves, to repent, believe in, and love Christ (Luke 11:13).  Seek constantly for the fruit and gifts of the Spirit, and yield to and obey the Holy Spirit in all things.  Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives so you don’t follow the desires of your sinful nature (Galatians 5:16-26).
