God’s Will – Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks

Always be joyful.  Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)

Why are you discouraged?  Will all your worries add a single moment to your life?  Be happy, pray always and give thanks in everything.

Live a life of constant joy – not only for prosperous and pleasing times but in all seasons and at all times.  Be thankful – whether good or gloomy because God designs all for your good.

Long for Him and pray without ceasing.  The more you pray the more you appreciate and be thankful – Thanksgiving, praise and prayer goes together. You can’t separate one from the other.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to Him.

Pray all the time and you shall rejoice evermore and give thanks in everything.

Prayer
Lord please help me build a life of continual prayer, in Jesus name. Amen

Verses For When You Are Discouraged

Why do we get discouraged and disappointed?  Discouragement comes in so many forms. Delay in fulfillment of desires can be a reason for discouragement. At times it is hardship and hardness of life’s problems.  Other times it’s the difficulty of a task we are unable to perform.

Whatever is the reason for your discouragement Jesus Christ is not overcome by Life’s problems.  Failure and discouragement are foreign to Him.  Isaiah 42:4 states “He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. – kjv. He shall not fail you.

Be encouraged by these scriptures.  Meditate on them, personalize them and speak them out to the problem.  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Exodus 14:13  But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.

Matthew 17:7  Then Jesus came over and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”

Genesis 26:24  Where the Lord appeared to him on the night of his arrival. “I am the God of your father, Abraham,” he said. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. I will multiply your descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will do this because of my promise to Abraham, my servant.”

Isaiah 41:13  For I hold you by your right hand I, the Lord your God.  And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.

Acts 27:22  But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down.

1 Kings 17:13  But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son.

2 Kings 6:16  “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”

Isaiah 43:1  But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.  O Israel, the one who formed you says, Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.  I have called you by name; you are mine.

Isaiah 43:2  When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.  When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.  When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

Isaiah 43:3  For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.  I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

Matthew 10:31  So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

Isaiah 41:10  Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Wait On The Lord

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. – Psalm 27:14 (KJV)

Have you ever waited for somebody for so long?  At a point, you feel the person is not going to come but when he/she finally arrives with what you’re expecting, you’re relieved.  The anger you may have felt during your time of waiting suddenly disappears and you are then full of cheers.

Are you expecting something from the Lord and it seems He is delaying?  Psalm 27:14 commands to wait on the Lord.  Why do I have to wait seeing I am in distress?  Because the Lord never failed in His promises.

He shall strengthen you in your burdens.  Not only are you waiting in vain but with an enduring heart wait in expectancy.  Any time your prayers seem to be pending, daily confess the Lord is going to answer.

In your pain, affliction, agony, anguish, and difficulties, patiently wait on the Lord with prayer and expectancy.  He will SURELY fulfill His promise.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, in times of life’s challenges please remind me to always hold on and wait on the Lord in Jesus name, Amen.

8 Lessons That Do Not Save The Soul: The Story Of Cornelius

There are many characters in the Bible whose personal histories serve as a lesson to us.  We can avoid a lot of things by learning from these characters.  This post focuses on one of the Bible characters – Cornelius.

In Acts chapter 10 there was a man named Cornelius, a Centurion who lived in Caesarea.  He was a Roman army officer who was a captain of the Halian Regiment.  He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household.  He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.

Cornelius’s story is so important because though a Gentile he received the gospel and the Holy Spirit.  God indeed shows no favoritism so much so the Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. – Acts 10:45

There are vital lessons to learn from this wonderful character.

Lesson 1:  Never think that being religious is enough to save you.

Lesson 2:  Do not assume reverence to God or fear of God can save your soul

Being devoted to the things of God doesn’t make one a born again Christian.  Although Cornelius was so devout and worshipped God, yet he still needed to hear the gospel and respond to it.  That’s the reason Peter was sent to him so he can hear the message about Jesus Christ.  It was only after he and his entire household got born again that the Holy Spirit was poured out on them.

Being a God-fearing person does not necessarily mean you are born again.  Why?  Because demons fear too and so are unsaved men.  “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.” – (James 2:19 NLT).  Then again 1 Samuel 12:18 (KJV) says So Samuel called unto the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.

Lesson 3:  Giving alms or giving to the poor doesn’t guarantee you salvation

Lesson 4:  Continuous prayer does not constitute salvation

A prayerful life without Christ amounts to nothing.

We hear and see politicians, celebrities, individuals, etc giving to the poor all the time.  Do we say all these people are saved? The Pharisees did the same and yet rejected salvation. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.  Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” – Matthew 6:1-2

One may also give all he has and still be lost (1 Corinthians 13:3).  Some people are naturally good just like Cornelius.  A religious person whose continuous prayers were heard by God.  Prayerfulness does not generate into salvation.  A prayerful life without Christ amounts to nothing. Cornelius was devout (Acts 10:2) but he was not saved.  Devoutness in itself does not constitute salvation.  Men even pray in hell but it avails nothing – Luke 16:23-31

Lesson 5:  Seeing visions is not a sign that a person is saved

Lesson 6:  Being respected by men is not an assurance for salvation

Among the amazing things associated with Cornelius was the vision he received and also the fact that men respected him. Cornelius was just in the eyes of men that all the Jewish people respect him.  Notwithstanding all these, he was not saved.  We see the account of unsaved men in Job 33:14-30 having visions that didn’t save themHaving a vision is not a sign of personal salvation.

Lesson 7:  Having a good reputation of men does not redeem your soul

Lesson 8:  Fasting is not a sign that you are saved

Truly God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.

Apostle Paul in Acts 23:1 says he has always lived before God with a clear conscience but then again in Philippians 3:6 he indicates I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church.  And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault.  A good reputation isn’t a qualification for salvation.

Then again, Cornelius fasted in Acts 10:30.  Fasting is one of the spiritual exercises of a Christian because it helps grow spiritually.  When fasting becomes just a norm then it loses its focus.  Hypocrites did fast weekly. (Matthew 6:16-18)

Cornelius was a good man with a beautiful personality but needed to hear and respond to the Good News.  Even though he didn’t know the Lord at the time, when the opportunity presented itself for him to be saved he grabbed it.  He did not reject the angel’s message but obeyed and sent for Peter.   The Lord’s message was delivered to Cornelius and his household.

The Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word and they spoke in tongues and got baptized.  Surprising isn’t it? That how can a gentile also receive Christ? With God all things are possible and He is no respecter of persons.

“So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him” (Acts 10:34-35 ESV).  And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles (Acts 10:45 ESV)

Have you come across persons who say “as for me I don’t do anything bad and even though I don’t go to church I believe in God?”  Is it possible that we have some ‘Corneliuses’ in the church today?

How To Create Your Own Atmosphere For The Presence Of God

God inhabits the praises of his people.  When we worship God we literally give him a seat to sit down in our mist.  When our praises go up the presence of God comes down and all forms of evil spirits flee.   It is possible to create your own atmosphere for the presence of God everywhere you go.  Here are two basic things to help create your own atmosphere.

Music:
Worshipping God with the right kind of music helps create an atmosphere for the presence of God.   Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness (Psalm 29:2). One powerful way to get yourself out of sadness or bad moments is through worship.  Worshipping God creates an atmosphere of miracles because God lives in your worship.  Worshiping God can be done anywhere and anytime.  You can carry worship CDs everywhere you go and play them in your car, office or at home.  You can also download or copy the right kind of music (Christian music) on your phone or external device and listen to anytime and at any place

Preaching
Bible teaches that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).  Listening to preaching builds your faith and makes you wise.  2 Timothy 3:15 indicates “and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus”.  Preaching is the word of God.  The word of God is God himself and God speaks to us through his word.  I believe worship and preaching are the two main items for creating the right atmosphere for the presence of God.  You can also carry preaching CDs with you everywhere you go.

Personally, I always create my own atmosphere with worship songs and preaching.  I love music a lot and of course the right kind of music – be it instrumental or singing.  Simply put I love songs which glorify God.  I use my phone a lot and I got myself a bigger memory card for songs and preaching.

As a Christian, you cannot leave a life without worship because God loves worship.  His presence comes down when you worship and evil can’t stand worship.  Bible teaches how the evil Spirit left Saul and was made well after David played an harp (1 Samuel 16:23).  2 Chronicles 5:13 also indicates how the presence of the Lord filled the house when the musicians in the temple played instruments and worshipped God.

Arise, daughter of God and worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness.  May chains be broken as you create your own atmosphere for the presence of God.

5 Psalms For January

As we begin the new year 2018 it’s my prayer that you enjoy every good thing that the Lord has in store for you. May thanksgiving not cease from your mouth.  Thank him for all his benefits towards you because for us to live to see this day is by His Grace and love.  Begin your year with these scriptures.

Psalm 48:1-2   How great is the Lordhow deserving of praise, in the city of our God, which sits on his holy mountain!  It is high and magnificent; the whole earth rejoices to see it!  Mount Zion, the holy mountain, is the city of the great King!

Psalms 40:2-3  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. 7 Promises To The Tempted

Temptations will come your way whether you like it or not.  God did not promise us trouble-free life, but He promised never to leave or forsake us.  He promised to always show a way of escape.  I have my own fair share of temptations and still come across temptations, but one of my favorite scriptures that keeps me moving is 1 Corinthians 10:13 which states “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

You realized from the above that firstly, the temptation is common to man – a temptation which one is able to bear.  Secondly, the temptation won’t be more than you can stand.  It won’t be beyond your God-enabled ability and Thirdly, God will provide a way of escape.

So what are these 7 promises?

Power to Tread on Evil Forces
Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.  Luke 10:19.  This promise talks about preservation and protection.  He’ll preserve you from danger, from the power of Satan and from wicked and crafty men and from mankind in general because He has divine power. 7 Examples Of Great Faith

Hebrews chapter 11:1 gives a Biblical definition of faith – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Faith is important in the life of a Christian because without it, you cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6).  Be inspired by these ordinary people who demonstrated great faith and received their healing.

The Canannite Woman
“Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.  Matthew 15:28

The Leper
Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”  Matthew 8:2

The Centurion
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.  Matthew 8:10 Continue reading “7 Examples Of Great Faith”

19 Scriptures About Worship

God deserves to be worshiped and worshiping him is part of our christian responsibilities.

We worship God to show reverence and adoration. Knowing that he is the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, sovereign and supreme in power & authority is what makes us worship him.

Simply put God is the one in charge of your life and that’s why you have to worship to acknowledge him for who he is.

May we be encouraged by these scriptures to worship

1 Chronicles 16:29  Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.

Psalm 95:6  O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

Psalm 96:9  O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

A Defensive Weapon

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)

Heavenly father I thank you for the cleansing and sanctifying power of your word.   Thank you for the ability to keep your word in my heart.

Holy Spirit be my guide and cause me to always read and understand your word.

May the gospel and the holy scriptures dwell in me richly that I can stand firm against the power of evil.

I give you glory Lord because heaven and earth may pass away, but your word will not go unfulfilled in Jesus name. amen

Memory Verses For The Month of October

“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.  You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.  For if you will be careful to do all this commandment that I command you to do, loving the Lord your God, walking in all his ways, and holding fast to him,   then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.” – Deuteronomy 11:18-23 (ESV)

Below are five scriptures to memorize for the month of October 2017–one scripture for a week.  May we hold fast to His word.

Lamentations 3:22-23  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Matthew 21:22  And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

1 Peter 5:7  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

2 Timothy 3:16  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Philippians 4:13  For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength

Scriptures On Revival

“Will you not revive us againthat your people may rejoice in you? Psalm 85:6 (ESV).
Revival basically means to make alive or a spiritual awareness.  Revival is needed in our lives again and again to make us live again.  Revival is needed to restore that which is no longing working.  Revival is needed to bring a dead situation alive.  .  Our personal walk with God need revival, our churches need revival & our nations/governments need revival.  So why do we need revival?

Revival is needed for Christ to prevail in the land.  Revival is needed to restore the zeal of God in our personal lives and the church.  Revival is needed when our love for God has grown cold – not getting involve in the things of God, having no compassion for the lost, indulging in sin, etc.  It is needed for the spirit of righteousness to prevail in the land.  Revival is needed to rebuild the alter of prayer.  Revival is needed where there is demonic doctrine and satan worship.

So do we need to pray for revival? Of course yes and here are some scriptures.

Hosea 6:2  After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.

Lamentations 3:40  Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord!

Hosea 10:12  Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Psalm 143:11  Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. Continue reading “Scriptures On Revival”
