15 Verses About Courage

Much has been said about some Biblical characters who exhibited so much courage to get things done.  Some of these people were strong, influential and courageous women full of boldness and confidence.

A woman rises up like Esther to save an entire nation.  She presented her case before King Ahasuerus without an invitation which could lead to her death. “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” (Esther 4:16 NLT)

A moment comes when a brave, beautiful and intelligent woman rises up like Abigail to use her wisdom and wealth to plead for the safety of her family (1 Samuel 25)

A time comes when a woman rises up like Zipporah to save the life of Moses by circumcising her son thereby helping Moses fulfilled his mission (Exodus 4:24-26).

Other women like Jael, Deborah, The wise woman of Tekoa, Ruth, Hannah, Mary, Mother of Jesus, etc. also displayed their courage to get things done.  May the power of God motivates and strengthens us to be courageous women.

Here are some verses to inspire us.

Deuteronomy 31:6-7  Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

2 Samuel 10:12  Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the Lord’s will be done.”

Psalm 27:14  Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Joshua 1:6  “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.

Numbers 13:20   And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

Joshua 1:9  This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:18  Anyone who rebels against your orders and does not obey your words and everything you command will be put to death. So be strong and courageous!”

1 Chronicles 19:13  Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the Lord do that which is good in his sight.

Psalm 31:24   Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Joshua 10:25  And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

1 Chronicles 22:13  For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the Lord gave to Israel through Moses. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!

Ezra 10:4  Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

1 Chronicles 28:20  Then David continued, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly.

2 Chronicles 15:8  And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.
